Bornakk has announced on the forums tonight that the honor points wipe they were going to do before WotLK will not be happening after all.Once again for clarity: honor points and PvP tokens will not be reset. There is no word if arena points will be eventually included in this.
This is a very interesting change of policy. Blizzard announced last week that all honor points and tokens would be reset. Since that announcement, there has been significant outrage by many players that have saved up significant amounts of honor and tokens. With this change players will be able to stockpile points and purchase level 80 PvP gear. However this gear will be "significantly more expensive" than current level 70 gear.
We'll bring you any updates that develop on this breaking news.

WoW: The Culling of Stratholme Video Run Through - Ten Ton Hammer

In this instance you get to follow along as Arthas starts to turn to evil as he insists on purging the city of Stratholme after its inhabitants became infected by the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis's plague.
The video shows many of the key scenes, creatures and all of the boss fights in the instance. The video has been cut to save time, coming in at roughly 20 minutes. The instance is still fairly quick to complete however, and was finished in less than 50 minutes with all of the groups that it was ran through with.
You can watch the instance in our The Culling of Stratholme Video Run Through.

Realm Status plugin for Firefox
Sep 30, 2008 WoW Insider
Filed under: Fan stuff, Realm Status, AddOns, Instances The realms are back up now, but we’ve all been through that wait before — you’ve got things to do in Azeroth, but Blizzard is doing their updating, so you’re stuck browsing around WoW Insider in Firefox. And here’sFiled under: Fan stuff, Realm Status, AddOns, Instances

Of course, if you just need to see what's up and down, the Realm Status page on Blizzard's site will do it for you, but the plugin will actually put up a popup when your selected realm is back up. So you can browse all you want, and know exactly the right time to log back into the game. It's been around for quite a while, though it's only at version .4, but I haven't had any problems with it yet. And it supports both US and EU realms, so no matter where you are, you can have it keep an eye on what your realm is up to.
Thanks, Berg!

Scenarios vs. Open World RvR (Tier 2)
Sep 30, 2008 Warhammer Blog
Something has become more obvious to me over the last few days in Tier 2: If you want to achieve the maximum cost:benefit ratio of your time:rewards, do scenarios (Mourkain Temple specifically), but if you want to have an absolutely awesome time rather than caring about advancement, do open-world RvR.Something has become more obvious to me over the last few days in Tier 2: If you want to achieve the maximum cost:benefit ratio of your time:rewards, do scenarios (Mourkain Temple specifically), but if you want to have an absolutely awesome time rather than caring about advancement, do open-world RvR.
MT rewards me with about 5000XP from kills, 6500XP for winning (bonus), and 500+ renown for less than 15 minutes work (about 7-10 minutes). I’m also pulling in anywhere from 1-3 pieces of RvR gear and some nice pocket change to pad my 401k, er, scratch that… I’m putting all my money in my mattress. It’s fun enough, but after you’ve run more than 3 MTs in a row, it starts to feel grindy…
Open-world RvR is a total blast, however, I can’t achieve anywhere near the kinds of rewards in 7-10 minutes than I can from a MT run. Even when we lose MT, it’s still a more efficient way of leveling. That said, I love to mix in open-world RvR because it has that strong connection to the core of what Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is all about. Sure, scenarios contribute to the overall RvR campaign, but battlefield objectives, keeps, and skirmishes are much more meaningful toward your overall score.

I’ve never been a fan of massive stand-off battles, which is what keep taking/defending usually boils down to, but I think I’m finding it less of a bore in WAR because I picked a ranged career as my main. I can just sit back and plink away. That in itself may sound boring, but at least I’ve been able to score some decent kills, which makes it much more entertaining. WAR is probably more fun than most games for a melee character as well because they have really good survivability and you actually need them to push the fight forward. The same goes for healers.
I find all the various careers of WAR to actually be quite useful in their roles. They’ve nailed that pretty well, even if each individual career may have a number of flaws. This makes both open-world and scenarios quite fun.
Open-world RvR has become much more entertaining in T2 than it was in T1, where it was basically a massive scrum over each battlefield objective with the zergs moving around as one giant organism (in Norrland anyway). We now have keeps to keep us busy, and I’ve found they bring a lot more to the table than simple BOs. I think it will get even better in T3, as the RvR lakes get larger and dominate more of the total map space.
Once I hit rank 40, I doubt I’ll be doing many scenarios at all, even if the renown rewards may be a bit greater. Once you remove XP and rank advancement from the equation, I’ll probably err more on the side of fun over reward.
